About Hunza Valley
Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Surrounded by some of the world's highest peaks — including Rakaposhi (7,788m), Ultar Sar and Golden Peak — the valley offers a rare combination of dramatic mountain scenery, ancient culture and warm hospitality. The main hub is Karimabad, a charming town perched above the valley floor, home to the 700-year-old Baltit Fort and the older Altit Fort. The Hunza people are known for their longevity, literacy and exceptionally warm welcome toward visitors. Spring (April–May) brings stunning apricot blossom season, while autumn (October) paints the valley in gold.
How to Get There
From Islamabad: 15–20 hours by road via the Karakoram Highway (KKH), one of the world's most spectacular roads. Or fly to Gilgit Airport (1 hour flight, subject to weather) and then drive 2 hours to Hunza. PIA operates regular flights from Islamabad to Gilgit. The KKH passes through Abbottabad, Mansehra, Besham, Chilas and Gilgit before reaching Hunza.
